Cavaliers Crying Foul On Pistons' Wallace

Feb 27, 2006 5:15 AM

The Cavaliers believe that Detroit's Rasheed Wallace got off extremely lightly after his hard foul on Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas on Sunday.

Coach Mike Brown thought Wallace's foul - he hacked Ilgauskas on top of the head as he drove to the basket with 10:13 left in the first quarter and opened two cuts on his scalp that required five stitches to close - should've been classified as a flagrant-2 because Wallace wasn't going after the ball.

A flagrant-2 would've meant an ejection and potential suspension for the game against the Pistons game tonight in Cleveland.

``It was the wrong call. I thought Rasheed got upset and hit him on purpose,'' Brown said. ``It didn't look from my vantage point that he went for the ball.''

Wallace became upset when Ilgauskas elbowed him in the chest fighting for position before the ball arrived. After Ilgauskas got the ball and made a move to the hoop, Wallace bashed him in the head on purpose and admitted as such afterward, which might not help his cause with the league.

``Why would I crack that cat in the skull to start the game if I wasn't elbowed first,'' Wallace said.

Lebron Hears Boos In Home Loss

Feb 25, 2006 5:16 AM

Lebron James' 0-for-8 second half in the Cavalier's 102-94 loss to the Washington Wizards was enough to warrant the boobirds in Cleveland on Friday night.  James' struggles didn't get any better from the free throw line either, going 4-for-12 during the same span.

After missing a shot from the wing with five seconds remaining, he angrily ripped off his headband, threw it into the crowd and walked off the court.

"I put all the blame on myself," said James. "It was a bad performance by me."

Rockets Looking To Move Anderson To One Of Five Teams

Feb 23, 2006 2:20 AM

According to the Houston Chroncile Derek Anderson is attracting some interest, with up to five teams considering acquiring the shooting guard.

The Rockets have tried to complete a deal to move Anderson to the Heat, Cavaliers, Lakers, Nuggets or Magic.

However, each team had other, greater priorities, making a deal with the Rockets unlikely until closer to today's 3 p.m. deadline.

"Everyone's aggressive right now to try to better their team," Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said. "I don't think there's one team that's not aggressively looking to better their team. Some general managers will tell you that. Usually the losing ones, like us ... you guys would think we were nuts if we said, 'You know what, we really like how it's going this year. This is good stuff right here, so we're going to stand pat and feel good.'

"The other ones are going to try to con you. They're trying to get better, too. Detroit is, I'm sure, going to try to find a backup point. Either you're going to try to get better or you're trying to dump contracts so you can get better.

"Either way, you're trying to do something. But every article is the same: We don't expect anything to happen. If it doesn't, 'It's hey I told you.' If it does, it came up at the last second."

Cleveland Still Looking For A Guard, Not Expected To Make Drastic Move

Feb 22, 2006 10:12 PM

Cleveland general Manager Danny Ferry isn't expected to make a drastic move today.

``I like coaching the players I have,'' Cavs coach Mike Brown said Wednesday. ``You never say never, but if we do anything at this point it would be a surprise.''

According to several league executives, the Cavs have been looking around for help at the guard positions. Their most tradeable player is Drew Gooden because of his value and the fact he's going to be a free agent.

But Ferry seems reluctant to trade him for just a guard, especially because he's been an excellent team player and has gotten more consistent as the season has progressed. With that in mind and a lack of salary-cap space or draft picks to use, the chances of a significant deal are slim.

The Cavaliers have reportedly discuss adding one of four guards; Derek Fisher, Tony Delk, Earl Watson and Keyon Dooling.
