James Borrego explained his decision to play LaMelo Ball just 16 minutes on Friday night, citing his turnovers.

“If you’re turning the ball over five times in 16 minutes, that ain’t gonna cut it for me. If you’re doing that on the offensive end, you better be bringing something defensively," said Borrego following their 123-110 loss to the Bulls.

Ball finished the game with 7 points and 2 assists.

Ball, who said he was "rushing a lot of stuff," agreed that he had struggled the last two games.

“Last two games, I don’t think I’ve been doing real well. I’m going to try to amp it up a little next game.”

Gordon Hayward underwent a previously unreported elective surgery in early October to alleviate persistent nerve pain his left foot, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Hayward's surgery was performed by Indianapolis-based Dr. David Porter, which relieved the discomfort that he played through last season and required approximately four weeks of recovery time for the incision to heal.

A source from the Charlotte Hornets told The Athletic they were aware of the procedure during free agency and were completely comfortable with Hayward's medical status.

“Imagine just having a constant burning sensation in your foot,” Bartelstein said of the condition. “It’s like having a rock in your shoe all the time. (Morton’s Neuroma) is a simple procedure they’re able to do that removes that nerve so you’re not feeling that burning sensation. It’s made a world of difference.”

Cody Zeller is expected to return for the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.

Zeller has missed the last month due to a broken bone in his left hand.

James Borrego said that Zeller will have no minutes restriction when he returns. 

The NBA fined three players stemming from their roles during a game this week between the Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets.

James Johnson was fined $40,000. For the Hornets, Cody Martin lost $25,000 and Caleb Martin $20,000.

The incident happened with about 2:40 left in Wednesday's game, a 118-99 victory by Charlotte.

The NBA said Johnson deliberately pushed Cody Martin out of bounds, "aggressively confronting him and initiating the incident."
