Mike Woodson is looking for a contract extension from the Hawks.
He is entering the final season of his contract, and the Hawks don't currently have plans to give him an extension.
"Every year, people have me fired," Woodson told Yahoo! Sports. "I can't worry about that. I really can't. Am I a little disappointed that none of my staff and I were extended contracts this year? You're damn right I am because we deserve it. We deserve it with what we've done this past year. Any other coach probably would have been extended without a doubt.
"For us not to be extended is not right. But it is what it is. ... I still have a job to do."
The Atlanta Hawks have signed veteran power forward Joe Smith to a contract, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Rick Sund.
"Joe's acquisition provides us with a solid complement to our frontcourt," said Sund. "Not only does he bring years of experience to our team, but his versatility gives our coaching staff a player who can play multiple positions and an individual who will provide tremendous leadership in the locker room."
Smith is a 14-year NBA veteran who most recently played 21 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season.
Before joining the Cavs, he spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder (where he participated in 36 contests), who bought out the remainder of his contract and released him on March 1.
Smith saw action in 13 playoff games for Cleveland, averaging 5.5 ppg and 3.7 rpg (.460 FG%), and on the season, tallied 6.5 points and 4.7 rebounds (.496 FG%, .750 FT%).

A judge has ruled that the eight owners of the Hawks and Thrashers must return to the same operating agreement they shared before their split back in 2005.
Judge Durke G. Thompson ruled that the contract the owners reached that would allow the seven owners to buy out Steve Belkin was too ambiguous.
Also at stake are the operating rights to Philips Arena, where the Hawks and Thrashers play.
"The court did exactly what we asked it to do. We are back under the operating agreement which we think is a good agreement. We no longer have any obligation to buy out Belkin nor does Belkin have any right to purchase the Hawks and Thrashers," one of the Atlanta-based owners, Michael Gearon, told the Associated Press.
Joe Smith has agreed to a one-year deal with the Hawks, a source told ESPN's Ric Bucher.

Smith, the first overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft, has played for nine teams.
The veteran forward picked Atlanta over Cleveland, where he played last season.
Marvin Williams believes that the back and wrist injuries that hampered him last season are healed.
Williams, who recently signed a new contract with the Hawks, told that Associated Press that he is "100 percent" recovered from his injuries.
The forward's new deal is worth $37.5 million over five years.
Williams said he didn't want to leave the Hawks because "we started something special here."
