Bogut Not Expected To Miss Time

Mar 28, 2008 5:19 AM

Andrew Bogut is not expected to miss any time despite a collision with the Hawks' Marvin Williams that left the Australian big man bloodied, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting.

Bogut, going up to grab an inbounds' pass from the baseline, was hit on the nose by Williams, and despite no foul being called, he went to the floor and had to be toweled off by trainer Andre Daniel to clean up the blood.

"That was a rough one," Krystkowiak said of the collision. "He would have had a dunk on the play."

"I don't suspect there will be any problem with that (playing) at all. He was interested in staying in last night, if it wouldn't have been bleeding so much. He's not going to miss anything."

The Hawks moved into a tie for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a win over the New York Knicks on Sunday night, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Knicks are among the league's worst this season, but it took a key third-quarter run to ensure an Atlanta victory.

"They were playing hard, but we felt like if we went at them and tried to pour it on a little bit we could take control of the game," said Marvin Williams. "We're at our best when we do our work early. And we had a chance to get it going and we didn't hesitate."

Mar 14, 2008 5:48 PM

"That is the key," Woodson said. "If we plan on making the playoffs, we better get back to defending and rebounding."

Atlanta is in a battle with New Jersey, Chicago, Indiana, and Charlotte for playoff positioning.

Rockets Win 20th Straight, Tied For 2nd All-Time

Mar 12, 2008 9:41 PM

Tracy McGrady and the Houston Rockets just continue to roll.

The Rockets, led again by Tracy McGrady's 28 points and 9 rebounds, beat the Hawks in Atlanta 83-75 on Wednesday night to earn their 20th consecutive win.

The win ties the second longest winning streak in a single season in NBA history, with the Rockets joining the 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks in achieving the amazing feat.  The Rockets will try for win 21, and sole possession of the second spot, when they take on Charlotte at home on Friday 14th.

The L.A. Lakers own the NBA's longest ever winning streak, set at 33 in the 1971-72 season.

The Rockets have been missing center Yao Ming since the beginning of March, which many believed marked the end of the Houston's chances.  The team continued to win, however, with the win over the Hawks' being their 8th consecutive without the 7-5 sensation.

Almost 3 Months Later, Hawks Officially Beat Heat

Mar 8, 2008 9:24 PM

It took almost three months, but the Atlanta Hawks finally defeated the Miami Heat - again - on Saturday night.

The game once again went to overtime, and the Hawks once again won, although this time the score was different.

In the first replay since 1983, the Hawks beat the Heat 114-111 in overtime Saturday night to complete a protested game from December, the Associated Press is reporting.

Neither team scored in the 51.9 seconds which had to be replayed, forcing overtime.

"It's a bizarre situation. It doesn't happen often," Heat coach Pat Riley said between games. "And it isn't something that everybody was excited about. But I guarantee you the Atlanta Hawks are very excited about it because they're playing for a season."
