Knicks Not Trying To Trade Julius Randle

May 24, 2024 8:24 AM

The New York Knicks are set up for an important summer. They have some key roster decisions, including extensions and re-signings. One thing that doesn't appear to be on the priority list is trading Julius Randle.

The Knicks are not actively shopping Randle. New York understands that adding a star player this summer may mean having to trade Randle. However, the Knicks aren't taking a must-trade approach to their star forward's status.

Randle is eligible for an extension in early-August. New York isn't likely to pursue an extension, because that would come with a months-long trade restriction. The Knicks are prioritizing flexibility with trades, as well as under the tax aprons, this offseason and into next season.

Bronny James Receives Over 10 Workout Invites; Suns, Lakers Among Those He'll Accept

May 24, 2024 1:43 PM

Bronny James will work out for the Phoenix Suns ahead of the NBA draft in June.

The Suns own the No. 22 pick in the draft and James is among the players under considerations at that draft slot.

James has received over 10 workout invitations, but is expected to only visit a few teams including the Suns and Los Angeles Lakers.

Rich Paul recently went on record that James will not sign a Two-Way deal coming out of the draft.

“Yes, that’s absolutely true,” Paul said when asked about the two-way deal. “Teams know that. I’m not doing that.”

Jaylen Brown Focused On Playoffs, Not All-NBA

May 24, 2024 9:59 AM

After the Boston Celtics Game 2 win in the Eastern Conference Finals, Jaylen Brown was asked if he had extra motivation after not making the All-NBA team. Brown made it clear where his focus is.

"We're two games away from the Finals, so honestly I don't have the time to give a f---," Brown said.

Brown scored 40 points to lift Boston to a 2-0 series lead over the Indiana Pacers. The Celtics are now two games away from making their second NBA Finals in the last three seasons.

The lack of an All-NBA nod has no financial impact on the Celtics star. The projected five-year, $286 million extension Brown signed last summer was based on him making All-NBA during the 2022-23 season.

Tyrese Haliburton Leaves Game 2 With Left Hamstring Soreness

May 23, 2024 10:19 PM

Tyrese Haliburton left Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals with left hamstring soreness.

Haliburton missed time earlier in the season with a left hamstring injury. But he generally played through the injury in limited fashion to qualify for an All-NBA team, which he was named to this week. Haliburton earned an additional $41 million on his rookie scale extension with his All-NBA award.

Haliburton left the game with 10 points and eight assists over 22 minutes.

The Indiana Pacers will host the Boston Celtics in Game 3 on Saturday.

Clippers Hopeful Of Retaining Paul George, Believed To Want To Avoid Any Guaranteed Money Beyond 26-27

May 23, 2024 3:43 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers remain hopeful they can will be able to retain Paul George this offseason, sources tell Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

After Kawhi Leonard signed a three-year, $153 million extension with the Clippers, there was an expectation that George would sign next. But because Leonard signed at a discount below the four-year, $223 million deal he could have signed, it complicated the situation with George.

Rival teams and agents are under the impression that the Clippers are reluctant to commit to guaranteed money beyond 26-27 when Leonard's three-year deal expires.

George could also try to negotiate a no-trade clause if he becomes a free agent, which most NBA teams are reluctant to offer.

If George takes meetings with other teams, the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks and Miami Heat could be involved.

NBA Closes Investigation Into Josh Giddey

May 23, 2024 2:47 PM

The NBA has closed its investigation into Josh Giddey amid allegations he had an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl.

Newport Beach (Calif.) police announced in January that it had been "unable to corroborate any criminal activity" by Giddey and would not pursue charges.

The NBA came to a similar conclusion and closed its investigation.

In a since-deleted post, an anonymous social media user said a girl who is seen with Giddey in videos and photographs was a high school junior at the time. The social media account was deactivated since making the post.

Giddey has declined to comment about the allegations.

OG Anunoby Could Entertain Offers From Teams Beyond Knicks In Free Agency

May 23, 2024 1:58 PM

There is some speculation around the league that OG Anunoby could consider other franchises in addition to the New York Knicks, reports Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports

The Knicks acquired Anunoby during the season via trade with the combination of assets sent out and his presence as a CAA client has created an expectation that he would eventually re-sign. But Anunoby's situation is believed to be somewhat less certain than his former teammate Pascal Siakam with the Indiana Pacers, who is strongly expected to re-sign.

Anunoby has a $19.9 million player option for the 24-25 season with the Knicks that he is expected to decline.

During his half season with the Knicks, Anunoby was highly productive but had multiple injury stints.

The Philadelphia 76ers could be among the teams to pursue Anunoby.
