Leading to the start of training camp, sources say Kyle Lowry had been dodging calls and texts from team officials such as Masai Ujiri and Nick Nurse. 

Lowry only spoke briefly with Nurse following his elevation to head coach in June.

Lowry also hadn't spoken with Kawhi Leonard until media day on Monday.

“I'm here to do my job,” said Lowry. “One thing about me is I’ve always been prepared to come in and try to win a championship. I’ve always been given an opportunity to go out there and do me, and come back ready to go, in shape, ready to play. My mindset never changes: Come to work for the Toronto Raptors, try to win a gold ball. That’s the same as it’s been since my first year here. That's been my sentiment: Trying to win a gold ball here.”

The Raptors felt Lowry's decision not to comment on their trade of DeMar DeRozan was not a concern as he's never made a habit of speaking to the media during the offseason.

Kawhi Leonard said he's focused on the coming season with the Toronto Raptors and not his future.

"I want to play here," Leonard said. "I came in with an open mind. I want to do great things ... focus on this year. If you're looking toward the future, you're going to trip over the present."

Leonard was also asked about his long-term goals as he's a few months from free agency.

Leonard said he plans to "play a long, healthy career; be happy wherever I land."

Leonard also said he has no regrets over what happened during his final season with the San Antonio Spurs.

"I have no regrets. But I want to focus on this team, this journey that we have in front of us today, and just stay in the present time, and not look back."

The Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as the favorites to sign Kawhi Leonard in free agency, according to sources.

Leonard will become a free agent in 2019 and is entering his first season with the Toronto Raptors.

Sources have long maintained Leonard prefers to join one of the two Los Angeles teams. The Clippers could create two max contract slots in free agency. The Clippers are also believed to be the preferred destination for Jimmy Butler.

The Toronto Raptors have agreed to a one-year, partially guaranteed deal with Eric Moreland.

Moreland played in 67 games last season with the Detroit Pistons.

Moreland went undrafted in 2014 out of Oregon State.

Deng Adel has changed course and will sign a partially guaranteed camp deal with the Toronto Raptors.

Adel had previously agreed to a camp deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Adel went undrafted out of Louisville.

The Toronto Raptors have agreed to sign Kyle Collinsworth to a partially guaranteed deal.

Collinsworth played for the Dallas Mavericks last season.

Collinsworth went undrafted in 2016 out of BYU.
