Spurs Expect Finley To Exercise Option

Jun 30, 2009 7:25 AM

The Spurs expect Michael Finley to exercise his contract option and return to the club for a fifth season.

Finley would make $2.5 million in 2009-10 under the option.

Last week San Antonio acquired Richard Jefferson, who is expected to cut heavily into Finley's minutes. However, it's unlikely that Finley would be able to find a more lucrative contract in this summer's soft market.

The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to trade Richard Jefferson to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto, a Bucks source told ESPN.com.

Richard Jefferson To The Spurs?

Jun 23, 2009 1:16 PM

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting the San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks are in serious trade discussions involving forward Richard Jefferson.

The deal would send Jefferson to San Antonio in exchange for Bruce Bowen, Fabricio Oberto, and Kurt Thomas.

If the trade is consummated, the Bucks would save money since Bowen and Oberto's contracts are partially guaranteed.

Bucks management publicly stated they would like to being "frugal" this off-season but would also like to re-sign guard Ramon Sessions and forward Charlie Villanueva.

Udoka Waits For News On Future With Spurs

Jun 23, 2009 7:28 AM

Ime Udoka will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and is waiting to see if he has a future in San Antonio.

Udoka will be watching Thursday's NBA Draft closely to see if the Spurs select someone that could take his place.

A meeting with coach Gregg Popovich several weeks ago did nothing to clarify Udoka's future.

"At my end-of-season meeting with Pop, he told me it depends on what they do in the offseason," Udoka said. "I'll listen to all my options and opportunities and make a decision in the next couple of weeks about what I'm going to do."

He has made it known that his first choice would be to remain in San Antonio.

San Antonio Inquired About Fifth Pick

Jun 13, 2009 9:07 AM

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the Wizards coveting Manu Ginobili from the Spurs.

The rumors apparently started when San Antonio called Washington to see what it would take to get the fifth overall pick in this month's draft.

The Wizards said it would take Ginobili, which ended the discussion, according to the Washington Post.

Other than Ginobili, there is nothing the Spurs could offer the Wizards for the pick.

"They don't have a thing for [No.] 5," a source told the Post.

Tony Parker commented on the Manu Ginobili trade rumors on Thursday.

?I don't know why he said that, but I don't think he's going nowhere,? Parker said. ?Everybody loves him here, and I love playing with him, and I don't think he's going anywhere.

?If I was him, I wouldn't second-guess anything. He's like God here. Come on, man. He speaks Spanish and everything. He's not going anywhere.?

Wizards Make Offer For Ginobili

Jun 11, 2009 11:12 AM

The Washington Wizards have made a trade offer for Manu Ginoibili.

Asked by the Argentine press this week whether he thought he could be traded, he said ?impossible? had lost a few letters.

?Today I believe there is a chance it could happen,? Ginobili said.

?People get in trouble when they say never,? Gregg Popovich said Wednesday.

?But Manu Ginobili is someone I cannot envision trading,? Popovich continued. ?He has been such a huge part of our heart and soul; people like that are hard to come by. You don't even think about trading somebody like that. I can't imagine a scenario where he would be traded.?

Cavs And Spurs Interested In Ioannis Bourousis

Jun 10, 2009 11:12 AM

A Greek Web site has linked both the Cavaliers an Spurs to Ioannis Bourousis, a 6-foot-11 center who is a star of Euroleague power Olympiakos.

Bourousis, who was named to the Euroleague First Team, is a free agent and is fielding some interest from NBA teams.

But according to a source, Olympiakos is prepared to make him an offer of around $2 million Euros tax free and that is more than any NBA team, including the Cavs, would probably be willing to offer.

Ginobili Predicts Complete Recovery

Jun 8, 2009 4:03 PM

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is predicting a complete recovery from the ankle injury that has hampered him since last summer.

"For the past month or so, I haven't felt any pain, even to the touch," Ginobili said. "I don't have any doubt I'll be 100 percent before training camp starts."

Ginobili missed all but 44 games last season, including all of San Antonio's first-round playoff loss against Dallas.

The guard also expressed interest in finishing his career with the Spurs, who began talking an about an extension last summer.

"I have said a thousand times, I would love to stay here," Ginobili said. "You know how the NBA is, though. There are not a lot of players who get to start and finish in the same place. I love San Antonio. If I have to take another road, you do what you have to do. But it would not be my first option, for sure."
