The Phoenix Suns have pursued a trade with the San Antonio Spurs for Thaddeus Young.

Young was included by the Chicago Bulls to the Spurs in their trade for DeMar DeRozan.

San Antonio is expected to continue to receive interest in Young from competitive teams. Young averaged 12.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists while playing in 68 games.

The Phoenix Suns have waived Ty-Shon Alexander.

Alexander was on a Two-Way contract last season and appeared in 15 games with the Suns. Alexander also appeared in 15 G League games, averaging 9.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 23.7 minutes.

The Suns now have both of their Two-Way slots available. 

The schedule NBA's annual Christmas Day extravaganza has been set. As per usual, there are five games scheduled on December 25:

Elfrid Payton has agreed to a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Payton averaged 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 23.6 minutes per game last season with the New York Knicks.

The Phoenix Suns will re-sign Frank Kaminsky to a one-year contract. Kaminsky re-joined the Suns last season after being waived by the Sacramento Kings.

In 47 games, Kaminsky averaged 6.6 points and four rebounds per game. Kaminsky shot a career-best 47.1% from the floor with the Suns in 2020-21.

The New Orleans Pelicans offered Chris Paul a three-year, $100 million contract in free agency before he agreed to re-sign with the Phoenix Suns on a four-year, $120 million deal that is partially guaranteed.

"And Chris Paul, who they offered $100 million from what I understand," said Brian Windhorst. "It helped Phoenix convince to give him at least partially guaranteed fourth year... I think Chris entertained it for some period of time."

Paul began his career with New Orleans until his trade to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2011.

Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns agreed to a four-year, $120 million contract as free agency opened, but it has a far lower number in terms of guaranteed money as anticipated. 

According to John Gambadoro, the third year of Paul's deal is only partially guaranteed at $15 million and the final season is a team option.

With Paul at an annual average of approximately $30 million, his guaranteed salary if he only plays the next two seasons with the Suns, is only $75 million.

Abdel Nader has agreed to re-sign with the Phoenix Suns on a two-year, $4.2 million deal.

Nader averaged 6.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in 14.8 minutes over 24 games last season with the Suns.

JaVale McGee has agreed to a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns worth $5 million.

McGee finished last season with the Denver Nuggets.

McGee will give the Suns depth at center behind Deandre Ayton. 

Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns have agreed to a four-year deal worth up to $120 million. 

Paul declined his $44.2 million player option with the Suns to become a free agent.

Paul led the Suns to The Finals in his first season with the team.

“One thing I’ll never do is take this game for granted,” Paul told Yahoo! Sports. “I love to play. It’s a real privilege. I’ve said this time and time again, I don’t care what type of business endeavors I’ll have set up when I’m done playing, it’s going to be so hard and tough whenever I finish playing. Because I love the game, I love the grind, I love the workouts, all of it. This game means a lot to me, and I’m so thankful to be in this position.”
