Nikola Vucevic is eligible for a contract extension in the offseason and both he and the Orlando Magic share a mutual desire to agree on a new deal.

"I'd love to be in Orlando for a while," Vucevic said. "I like the direction of the team. We have a lot of good stuff going forward. I’d love to be a part of it.”

Vucevic is averaging 13 points and 11 rebounds this season.

"We hope to have him here," Rob Hennigan said.

Tobias Harris has been more vocal and emotional during the Orlando Magic's recent games and teammates and coaches have noticed that the young forward is taking a larger talking role.

"I just think for me being a player that I am, being the person that I am, it's just something that I have to do," Harris said.

"I have to be vocal for our team. I look at myself as a guy on this team who's going to go out and play as hard as anybody on the court. With that being said, I want to be vocal and be energetic towards my team and make sure they're bringing the same amount of energy."

The Magic have lost 12 of their last 13 games and Jacque Vaughn has pulled Harris aside to tell the 21-year-old he must play with more edge.

"He knows that I'm the type of guy who wants to win as bad as anybody," Harris said.

The Orlando Magic have waived forward-center Solomon Jones.

Orlando’s roster now stands at 13 players.

Jones, who suffered a torn meniscus early in the season, appeared in 11 games with the Magic, averaging 1.3 ppg. and 1.5 rpg. in 7.7 minpg. He was signed by the Magic as a free agent prior to training camp on Sep. 27.

Trey Burke and Victor Oladipo have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for December.

Burke averaged 14.8 points, 5.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds for the Utah Jazz.

Oladipo averaged 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds & 3.8 assists for the Orlando Magic.

The Orlando Magic have waived Hedo Turkoglu, the team announced on Friday afternoon.

Turkoglu has appeared in 897 regular season games during his NBA career with Sacramento, San Antonio, Orlando, Toronto and Phoenix, averaging 11.9 ppg., 4.2 rpg. and 3.1 apg. in 28.5 minpg., while shooting .381 (1,164-3,057) from three-point range.

Turkoglu earned the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award in 2007-08 and helped Orlando reach the 2009 NBA Finals.

Hedo Turkoglu is determined to have one more shot in the NBA.

Turkoglu is being shopped by the Orlando Magic as only $6 million of his $12 million deal is guaranteed.

Turkoglu's remaining $6 million becomes fully vested on Jan. 10.

When Turkoglu is waived, he will pursue a deal with another NBA team.
