Skiles Pleased With Milwaukee's Chemistry

Nov 24, 2008 10:04 AM

Bucks' coach Scott Skiles is pleased with the amount of chemistry the team has built in the early part of the season.

"I'm pleased with the way the guys have taken to each other considering the fact that we have a whole new way of doing things," Skiles said. "They've been very good and made efforts to get along and to respect the fact that we need good chemistry in order to win games."

The Bucks are 7-8 through their first fifteen games, even without sharpshooter Michael Redd, who hasn't played since Nov. 2.

Ankle May Keep Redd Out Another Week

Nov 23, 2008 10:45 AM

Bucks' guard Michael Redd could be out another week as he continues to slowly recover from a right ankle injury.

Redd has not played since sustaining a high-ankle sprain against the Knicks on Nov. 2.

"He's just having some soreness," Coach Scott Skiles said.

"He felt like he could practice. He went through about 20 or 30 minutes, but it was clear he couldn't. Maybe that was a little bit of a setback. I don't know."

Skiles: Bucks Are Still Soft

Nov 19, 2008 2:39 PM

Bucks' coach Scott Skiles called his team soft after their loss to the Nuggets on Tuesday night.

"We were just incredibly soft and non-competitive, pretty much from beginning to end," Skiles said. "We were hanging close early in the game, but only because we were making some shots.

"You could feel that at any moment if they wanted to, they could just step on it and blow right by us. It was an unacceptable performance. We've got a game (tonight) and we've got to bounce back."

Skiles has been adamant about improving the team's defense and toughness since he arrived in Milwaukee.

Redd Not Ready To Return For Bucks

Nov 11, 2008 4:17 PM

Michael Redd will not return for the Bucks on Tuesday night against the Cavaliers after testing his injured ankle in practice on Monday.

"He's not ready," Coach Scott Skiles said. "He moved around OK but not like he was before the injury. We don't want to put him in a position where he could re-injure it and be out even longer."

Milwaukee appears to be listing him as day-to-day at this point.

"It's still tender, man; it still hurts," Redd said. "I got out here at practice today, which is a good sign. But I just couldn't do the things I wanted to do.

"I really can't cut that well, and I really can't come off pin downs and chase anybody really well. So I don't want to be a liability out on the court. I've just got to get it right."

Porter is a native of Milwaukee.

"It's going to be a thrill to go back in there as a head coach," Porter said. "It's always nice to go back there. It's weird how this business works. It could have been a situation where I never got another chance.

"I'm very appreciative of this opportunity I have. I want to come in there and try to get a win so I can get some bragging rights. I've got to get bragging rights for when I see all my buddies (from Milwaukee) in the summer."

Skiles Gives Raptors Backhanded Compliment

Nov 3, 2008 4:09 PM

Bucks' coach Scott Skiles gave the Raptors a backhanded compliment following their game on Saturday night, during which Toronto went on a 12-0 run in the third quarter.

"We just weren't ready when the ball was in bounds. We weren't ready to go, and they took advantage of that. (Toronto) is a smart club," Skiles said. "Nothing against their role players, but (Jose) Calderon, (Jermaine) O'Neal, and (Chris) Bosh are very high-level players. We had some breakdowns, and they took advantage of every single one of them."
