Clippers forward Chris Wilcox was arrested on Monday for carrying a gun in his car.
Wilcox could not provide proof the gun belonged to him or that he had a permit, police said. He was charged with transporting a handgun in a vehicle and was released on his own recognizance, police added. A passenger was not charged.
The officer found a .357-caliber revolver and a spent casing. Live ammunition and two spent shell casings also were in the car, police added.
The Nuggets have become the sneakiest team in this year's draft. Since they hold both the 20th and 22nd pick of the draft, everything that happens in the final third of the first round pivots on what they decide to do.
However, Denver is not counting on finding that shooting guard they desire via free agency, so with the two picks, they could sneak into last part of the lottery and pick up the Clippers' number twelve pick, which would yield Martell Webster or Antoine Wright.
The Los Angeles Clippers shot down rumors Monday that they had a deal in place to take Russian teenager Yaroslav Korolev at the #12 spot.
Korolev has just turned 18, has been mentioned in L.A. quite often as many news outlets have reported the Clippers are committed to taking him with their first selection.
"Of course we're not going to commit; we're not going to mention anything," Clipper Coach Mike Dunleavy said.
"We commit to everybody in the draft, and whoever we get, we get."
At 17 years of age, Korolev is considered Russia?s top young prospect.
"I probably would have waited another year to put him in the draft initially, but the response was so good from NBA teams [that] they really made the decision for us," Korolev?s agent Marc Fleisher said.
Los Angeles Clipper Bobby Simmons will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, however, he would like to remain in L.A. as Clipper. Along with that, coach Mike Dunleavy Sr. is making Simmons? signing a priority for the team.
"I have to weigh my options, to see what's best for my family," Simmons said. "But I'd love to stay here because of my teammates and the coaching staff, which helped me be prepared, starting from the first day of training camp last year. But it's going to be very interesting for a guy like me, who's never been in this situation before."
Bonzi Wells, who fell out of favor in Memphis after clashing with Coach Mike Fratello and being suspended in the playoffs might be the shooting guard the Clippers seek.
Mike Dunleavy coached him in Portland, where Wells played his most productive basketball.
The Clippers have exercised the fourth-year option on center Chris Kaman, the sixth overall selection in the 2003 NBA draft.
The move means Kaman is property of the Clippers for two more seasons. He becomes a restricted free agent following the 2006-07 season, with the Clippers holding the right of first refusal.
Kaman, a 7-foot-0, 265-pounder, averaged 6.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and .89 blocked shots while playing in all 82 games as a rookie, and 9.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.08 blocked shots in 63 games last season.
