Pacers Still Don't Have Diagnosis For Hansbrough

Mar 19, 2010 10:31 AM

Tyler Hansbrough's latest problem is an inner ear infection and/or possible concussion, which has kept him sidelined for most of the past two-plus months. The Pacers aren't expecting him to return this season.

"It really is miserable for me to be dealing with this injury," Hansbrough said recently. "I've never had an injury like this where it's kept me out a long time. It's something I'm trying to get over and get healthy."

Hansbrough's current diagnosis remains a mystery.

The team has been calling it an inner ear infection since late December. Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said two weeks ago that it possibly could be a concussion, caused when Hansbrough took a hit in a game in Boston in late December.

"It could be a combination of those two. We're not really sure," Hansbrough said.

Pacers Will Be Without Granger Indefinitely

Mar 18, 2010 6:15 AM

There is no timetable for Danny Granger's return to the Pacers.

Granger was released from the hospital after a CT scan on his head and neck taken Tuesday night came back negative.

"(The team's physicians will) evaluate him on a day-to-day basis," coach Jim O'Brien said. "If he's capable of going, he'll go, but you never know when somebody gets hit that hard in the head area."

Granger took an elbow to his cheek late in Tuesday's win over Charlotte.

T.J. Ford May Be In Charlotte's Future

Mar 17, 2010 4:38 PM

The Pacers and Bobcats had talks about point guard T.J. Ford prior to February's trade deadline, but nothing ended up happening.

According to the Charlotte Observer, that doesn't mean Ford isn't in the Bobcats' future.

The Bobcats saw Ford as a safety net should Raymond Felton leave via unrestricted free agency this summer.

If talks with Felton get rough, perhaps Charlotte could re-engage talks with Indiana regarding Ford.

Granger Prefers Wall To Turner, Cousins

Mar 15, 2010 2:38 PM

Danny Granger hopes the Pacers win the lottery and draft John Wall.

"Honestly, you?d want the No. 1 pick and, if we had the No. pick, I?d take John Wall. I think he?s the best player in the draft. There?s some other good players in this draft: Evan Turner (a guard from Ohio State), the big kid from Kentucky, DeMarcus Cousins ? But I would still take John Wall."

Granger was then asked who he would pick for MVP.

"I?d have to go with LeBron," said Granger. "Without him, they (the Cavs) probably wouldn?t win that many games. But with him, they are pretty much unstoppable. I think he?s one of the most unstoppable forces in the NBA.

Granger was then asked if he expects LeBron to re-sign with Cleveland or sign with New York.

"If I was LeBron, I?d go to New York," said Granger.

"New York is the media mecca as far as endorsements and being able to expand your personnel net worth. The exposure you can get there isn?t only nationally but globally. New York does all that for you."

Granger Doesn't Regret Signing Extension

Mar 13, 2010 7:03 AM

The Pacers have struggled mightily this season, but forward Danny Granger doesn't regret signing a contract extension before the 2008-09 season.

"Signing my extension was a no-brainer," he told Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star after Friday's loss in Boston.

Granger was an All-Star in the first year of the extension, but has been limited with a series of injuries this year.

"With our offense, (with) what we do, it's equal opportunity," he said of Indiana's supporting cast. "For whatever reason, our offense hasn't been there. We got worse on defense."

Ford Expects To Keep Hearing Trade Rumors

Mar 12, 2010 7:02 PM

Pacers point guard T.J. Ford dealt with a demotion professionally earlier this season, but that doesn't mean he doesn't expect to hear his name in trade rumors this summer.

Ford didn't play during the entire month of January, but found his way back in Indiana's rotation on Feb. 5 and has logged increasing minutes as of late.

His name came up prior to the trade deadline last month, notably in a rumored deal that would have sent him to Charlotte in a swap that involved D.J. Augustin.

When asked prior to Friday's game in Boston whether he felt he'd be mentioned in trade rumors again this offseason, the veteran guard allowed a smile to creep across his face.

"Do I expect to hear my name in rumors?" Ford asked. "Absolutely, of course."

Frye Ejected As Suns, Pacers Tussle

Mar 7, 2010 10:26 AM

The Suns defeated the Pacers 113-105 on Saturday night in a game that was marred by a third quarter incident.

With 46.7 seconds remaining in the period, Indiana's Earl Watson appeared to push Frye. Danny Granger then took a swipe at Frye, who swung back.

The Pacers' Roy Hibbert and the Suns' Jason Richardson joined in, and both were hit with technicals, along with Granger. Frye was assessed two technical fouls, an automatic ejection.

"We have the reputation of being soft," Watson said, "but we're not going to give in to anybody."

Granger said the Suns "were playing dirty."

"I was just setting a screen for Steve [Nash], and Earl swatted my hands away the first time and that wasn't a big deal," Frye said. "And the second time, I don't think it was the right play. I want to emphasize it's not my style of play to be pushing people and doing things like that. But I think at a certain point, you've got to protect yourself.

"I wasn't going to punch him. It wasn't about me punching. It wasn't the right play, but it was me just letting him know I didn't think that was acceptable."

There were two fights and eight technicals in the game.
