Baron Extension With W's Was Vetoed?

Sep 30, 2008 11:08 AM

Multiple league sources have confirmed to Tim Kawakami that leading up to the Baron Davis opt-out deadline, Davis and Warriors' chief Chris Mullin reached a tentative agreement, in which Davis would ?opt-in? on his $17.8M for this season, then land a three-year, $39M extension ($13M per).

All money included would have paid Davis $56.8M over four seasons through the 2011-12 season.

But for the offer to become official, it had to be approved by Team President Robert Rowell, and he reportedly vetoed it.

Biedrins' Role Continues To Grow With Warriors

Sep 28, 2008 5:30 PM

Center Andris Biedrins has seen his role grow each season with the Warriors.

Warriors coach Don Nelson named guard Stephen Jackson and Biedrins team captains on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, whom Nelson first gave captaincy to at the end of last season, takes over full-time after signing a huge six-year contract extension this summer.

"I needed to be a leader on that team, and I was playing a lot of offense and trying a lot of new things," Biedrins said. "So I gained confidence on the offensive end and I think it will help."

Warriors Undecided On If They Will Discipline Ellis

Sep 26, 2008 8:11 AM

Chris Mullin and the Golden State Warriors are still undecided as to whether they will fine guard Monta Ellis after Ellis was injured while riding a mo-ped, which he is contractually prohibited from doing, the Associated Press is reporting.

Ellis originally told the Warriors he was injured playing basketball.

"I don't think anyone felt like it was the best-case scenario," Mullin said of Ellis' shifting story. "There were some things that should have been done differently. I think he understands that. With all that said, now is the time for him to have our support. He did do something wrong and needs to be accountable for it, but I do think all the energy and effort goes into getting him healthy."

Ellis will miss training camp and at least several weeks of the regular season.

Warriors Changing Their Jerseys?

Sep 25, 2008 4:54 PM

The Warriors are considering making a change to their jerseys that would incorporate a sketch of the San Francisco landscape, according to San Francisco Chronicle.

The team has often been criticized for not identifying its hometown of Oakland, specifically in the team's name.

An updated design could look like the classic "The City" uniforms with an image of the Golden Gate Bridge that the team sported as the San Francisco Warriors many years ago.
