The Seattle SuperSonics have waived forward Ira Newble. Newble was acquired by the Sonics in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Feb. 21. He logged 17 minutes in two games for Seattle.

He left the court after spraining his ankle in the first half, but returned to reach the milestone and nearly led Cleveland to a win over the East-leading Celtics. The Atlanta Hawks used a strong third quarter to knock off the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. Mike Bibby, who was a member of the Kings just a few weeks ago, notched 24 points and 12 assists and Al Horford added 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Hawks, who went 35-for-40 for the foul line and outrebounded Sacramento by six. Brad Miller led with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and Beno Udrih tallied 25 points and 8 assists for the Kings, who shot 49% from the field and notched 19 second chance points.

LeBron James posted 26 points and 8 rebounds for the Cavs, who outrebounded the Celtics by seven and scored 26 points off Boston turnovers. Amare Stoudemire led the Suns with 32 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. The win allowed the Hornets to sweep their season series with the Suns. LeBron Becomes Youngest To 10,000 Points

LeBron James became the youngest player in history to reach 10,000 points on Wednesday night in Boston, scoring 26 points in the Cavaliers' 92-87 loss.

The milestone didn't come without a scare for James, who landed on Paul Pierce's ankle before halftime and missed the last 4:24 of the second quarter. X-rays were negative, and he was back for the start of the second half.

Wallace, Sczcerbiak Trade Came With Seconds To Spare

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and Seattle SuperSonics were able to make their 11 player trade at last Thursday's deadline with only seconds to spare, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting.  Literally.

"I was a little shocked," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said of getting the trade done. "It wasn't last minute but it was last-second, that part is true."

"I was in the room, and the NBA was on the line. I heard somebody from the NBA office say, 'Cleveland, you have 20 seconds to get Chicago on the phone.' It was pretty intense."

Cavs Receive $1.65 Million Trade Exception

The Cavaliers received a trade exception last week due to their trade with the Bulls, according to the Beacon-Journal.

Because they separately traded Cedric Simmons for a 2nd round pick, Cleveland received a $1.65 million trade exception which can be used during the next year.

LeBron James is happy with the Cavaliers' move that landed Ben Wallace, Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith, and Delonte West in Cleveland, the Associated Press is reporting.

"I'm excited," James said. "This isn't the type of deal I expected. You guys heard what I wanted, but I am grateful for the situation. We got some good caliber guys that are coming in. It was very surprising; you come into the locker room today and it is very different."

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed forward Kaniel Dickens and guard Billy Thomas from the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League, Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry announced today. The signings of Dickens and Thomas mark the 13th and 14th Call-Ups of the 2007-08 D-League Season.

In 29 games (28 starts), Dickens has averaged 20.4 points on .472 shooting, 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 31.3 minutes per game. Thomas is averaging 15.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 27 games (all starts).

An MRI taken today at The Cleveland Clinic by Head Team Physician Dr. Richard Parker confirmed the injury. He is expected to be out four to six weeks. His status will be updated as appropriate.
