The Mavericks have recalled Dominique Jones from the Texas Legends due to a foot injury to Vince Carter.

Carter injured his left foot on Jan. 16th.

In three games with the Texas Legends, Jones averaged 13.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 21.7 minutes per games.

The comeback of Greg Ostertag has come to an end after 10 D-League games due to knee pain.

"I could barely move (after Reno)," Ostertag said "I felt good there and I played good. I get out there and sometimes I do get loose, but usually the 'don'ts' are longer than the 'dos.' It sucks, but I knew going into this what could happen."

Ostertag averaged 4.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 13.3 minutes in 10 games with Texas.

"I regret quitting when I did," he said about when he retired from the NBA in 2006.

Ostertag thought he played some good minutes with the Texas Legends.

"But I just can't move the way I need to," he added. "These guys are young and fast. Some of them were just getting out of diapers when I came into the league."

The Texas Legends have signed Antonio Daniels.

Last season, Daniels played in 38 games for the Legends, averaging 14.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game, before he signed with the Sixers.

The Dallas Mavericks today assigned Dominique Jones to the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ NBA D-League affiliate.  

It is the first assignment for Jones this season.

Jones (6-5, 215) has appeared in nine games for the Mavericks this year, scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds. He returns to the Legends following a 10-game assignment as a rookie last season when he averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0.

Two dominating performances with the Texas Legends were enough to convince the Mavericks that Yi Jianlian is ready for his NBA return.

The 7-footer was called up and met the Mavericks in Michigan, where he is expected to be in uniform Tuesday when they play the Detroit Pistons.

"He's really a good athlete, he has good hands and he's just a nice, versatile big man for us," said president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson, who saw Yi's two games with the Legends, the team Nelson co-owns.

In two games, Yi averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in 36.5 minutes.

The Mavericks have recalled Yi Jianlian from the D-League's Texas Legends.

Yi was signed by the Mavericks on Jan. 6 and was immediately assigned to the Frisco-based Legends.

In two games with the Legends, he averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 36.5 minutes.

Yi Jianlian had a strong debut with the Texas Legends on Friday with 17 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in a 108-93 NBA D-League loss to the Austin Toros.

Yi, who signed earlier Friday with the Mavericks and was assigned to their D-League affiliate, will make his home debut Sunday afternoon when the Legends face the Maine Red Claws at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco.

Sean Williams will return to the Texas Legends of the D-League on Friday.

Williams will play in Sunday's game against the Maine Redclaws.

Williams had seven points and eight rebounds during 23 minutes of play during his one game with the Legends this season.

Michael Finley is being courted by the Texas Legends, according to sources.

The D-League team of the Mavericks is attempting to convince Finley that a D-League stint would help show NBA teams he's fully healthy.

Sources say Finley is determined to find one last NBA job, but is unsure about the D-League.

Greg Ostertag is averaging 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 points with the Texas Legends of the NBA Developmental League.

"So far, it's been fun. These guys are all good players," Ostertag said. "They work hard. They all have a goal that they want to continue to play basketball and make a living out of it. Some will make it to the top level. Others will go play overseas. You've got to come ready to play every night."

Ostertag said has no doubt that he can still contribute at the NBA level, some five years after he first hung up his sneakers.

"I think I still have ability. I'm a big body. I know how to rebound, block shots, put balls black and clog up the middle," Ostertag said. "It's just a matter of getting in good enough shape to go out and play at that higher level."
