Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis is likely to miss Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Porzingis is rehabbing from a strained right calf.
The Celtics are awaiting the winner of the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers series. The Eastern Conference Finals is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 21. Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday, May 23.
Porzingis was injured in Game 4 of the first-round series against the Miami Heat. The Celtics went on to win that series in five games. Then, Boston was without their starting center for the entire five-game victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round.
The Celtics have continued to express optimism that Porzingis would return at some point in the playoffs. Now, it looks like that return may come in the middle of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Members of the Cleveland Cavaliers were frustrated by the way Jarrett Allen handled his rib injury, sources told The Athletic.
Allen was elbowed by Franz Wagner in Game 1 of their first-round series against the Magic. The move "pierced" a rib on Allen's right side.

There was frustration among people in the team that Allen refused an injection to numb the pain and play.
OG Anunoby has been out since Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with a hamstring injury, but there is optimism he could return if the New York Knicks advance to the Conference Finals. Anunoby is expected to miss Game 6 at the Indiana Pacers on Friday, but could possibly play Game 7 if the series extends, or Game 1 of the next round if the Knicks advance.
“He’s out of the pool and doing some court work for the Knicks,” Brian Windhorst said Wednesday.
“If the Knicks advance, the fact that he’s already out there on the court and doing some light work makes it a possibility that the Knicks could potentially see him in the Eastern Conference Finals should they get one more victory.”
“He’s doing everything he can to try to get back ASAP but from what I was told it’s looking more likely a return for the Eastern Conference Finals, should the Knicks get there…look like that’s gonna be a realistic target date,” Chris B. Haynes of TNT said Tuesday.
According to Adam Zagoria of NJ Advance Media, Anunoby is spending at least eight hours per day rehabbing the injury.
Donovan Mitchell is expected to be out of the Cleveland Cavaliers' lineup for Game 5 with a hamstring strain.

"It's coming along, man. Week by week," Ball said. "It's improving, so that's all I can ask for. Still not where I want it to be. Out of 100 (percent), I'd say I'm about 70 (percent). Good enough to play, but it could still get better. I still got a long summer ahead of me. But definitely looking forward to the future."

Nikola Topic, a potential top-five pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, suffered a left knee injury on Monday. Topic was injured on a non-contact play after an awkward landing following making a pass. An MRI showed Topic suffered a sprained knee.
Topic is expected to miss the remainder of the ABA Finals due to the injury. Topic is expected to be a full participant in workouts in June, ahead of the draft.
