Josh Giddey Under Investigation By Police On Allegations Of Improper Relationship With Minor

Nov 29, 2023 3:07 PM

Josh Giddey is being investigated by Newport Beach, California police on allegations he was involved in an improper relationship with an underaged girl, according to a statement from police chief Joseph L. Cartwright released Wednesday.

In a since-deleted post, an anonymous social media user said a girl who is seen with Giddey in videos and photographs was a high school junior at the time. The social media account has since been deactivated.

"The Newport Beach Police Department is aware of information being circulated online involving an alleged relationship between professional basketball player Josh Giddey and a female minor," the statement read, in part. "The Newport Beach Police Department is actively seeking additional information related to these allegations and pursuing all leads and evidence to obtain the facts of the case.

"The Newport Beach Police Department aims to ensure a fair and thorough investigative process while maintaining the privacy and dignity of everyone involved. At this time, NBPD Detectives are still conducting an active investigation."

The NBA is also investigating the allegations.

Giddey has remained in the lineup of the Oklahoma City Thunder while the investigations are ongoing.

Draymond Green Has No Regrets From Headlock On Rudy Gobert

Nov 26, 2023 7:32 PM

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has completed his five-game suspension for putting Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a headlock. Green was adamant that he'll always have his teammates' backs in a situation like that.

"I don't live my life with regrets," Green said after practice, the first time he has spoken to reporters since his suspension. "I'll come to a teammate's defense any time that I'm in a position to come to a teammate's defense. ... What matters to me is how the people that I care about feel, first and foremost. How are the people that I care about affected? How are the people I care about, what do they have to deal with? That's it for me."

Green said that after talking with Warriors coach Steve Kerr and general manager Mike Dunleavy, that he's not going to change who he is.

"The consensus amongst all of us is that I'm going to be me no matter what. That's not going to change," Green said. "But in saying that, there's always a better way that something can be done. So it's figuring out a better way. That's the consensus among all of us."

Green also said he shouldn't continue to be punished for prior transgressions. He feels that the NBA shouldn't be taking that into account with current and future incidents.

"To continue mentioning, 'Oh, well, he did this in the past,' I paid for those," Green said. "I got suspended in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. You can't keep suspending me for those actions."

Draymond Green Apologizes, Shows Contrition Following Ejection Against Wolves

Nov 17, 2023 11:57 PM

Draymond Green reportedly apologized to his Golden State Warriors teammates and displayed contrition after getting ejected against the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this week.

Green, who was suspended five games for grabbing Rudy Gobert by the neck, said that he wanted to protect his teammate but took it too far.

Steve Kerr admitted that Green deserved his five-game suspension.

“He helps us make adjustments a lot. When things aren’t going right, he’s one of the best basketball minds in the league. So he’s seeing things and he’s able to adapt and tell coach, ‘We should do this instead’ and we adjust. He makes things happen like that. Or he can just do it all himself on the court where he sees things happen. He cleans up a lot of mistakes. I think we missed that a lot from him. And he pushes the pace. When things aren’t going right, we can’t score, he pushes (it) and gets guys open shots and different guys good looks," said Kevon Looney on Thursday about what the team will miss without Green.

The Warriors are currently on a five-game losing streak.

Hornets 'Comfortable' With Miles Bridges Playing As Domestic Violence Suspension Ends

Nov 16, 2023 1:50 PM

The Charlotte Hornets released the following statement about Miles Bridges upon the conclusion of his suspension and his eligibility to play in NBA games again beginning on Friday.

“Miles Bridges is eligible to return to our active roster on Friday after serving his NBA suspension. We are comfortable with Miles returning to play based on our current understanding of the facts of the recent allegations and remain in contact with the NBA as that matter proceeds through the court process.”

Bridges received a 10-game suspension after sitting out the entire 22-23 season following his no contest plea to a felony domestic violence charge. The NBA technically suspended Bridges for 30 games, but counted 20 games of the suspension last season when he was unsigned.

Bridges allegedly violated a domestic violence protective order last month and that case is pending.

The NBA also has a pair of ongoing high profile suspensions in Ja Morant (25 games, showing firearm on social media) and Draymond Green (five games, grabbing Rudy Gobert by neck).

The Hornets are planning a "significant role" for Bridges on the court.

The length of the suspension is based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.

Green will begin serving his five-game suspension on Thursday, November 16 when the Warriors host the Oklahoma City Thunder.
