Chris Finch Planning To Be With Timberwolves For Game 1

May 2, 2024 12:58 AM

Chris Finch is planning to be on the Minnesota Timberwolves' sideline for Game 1 of their series against the Denver Nuggets.

Finch had surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee on Wednesday.

Assistant Micah Nori is taking over head coaching duties in Finch's absence.

Due to a lack of spacing on the bench, Finch may switch seats with athletic trainer Gregg Farnam on the sideline for increased leg room.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard 'Very Close' To Return, Could Play Game 6

May 1, 2024 10:14 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks staved off elimination in Game 5, beating the Indiana Pacers 115-92. The Bucks won the game without both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, who are both currently injured. The win was the first in NBA history for a team without their two top scorers from the regular season.

Antetokounmpo and Lillard have a chance to return for Game 6 at Indiana.

Doc Rivers said both players are scheduled to work out on the court during the off day Wednesday.

"I think they're very, very, very close," Rivers said.

Zach LaVine Ahead Of Schedule With Foot Rehab

May 1, 2024 9:12 AM

Last season was a nightmare for Zach LaVine. The Chicago Bulls star guard played in only 25 games. LaVine initially missed time with knee soreness, before a right foot injury knocked him out for the season in mid-January.

The good news is that LaVine is ahead of schedule in rehabbing from what has been termed a non-union Jones fracture. The All-Star guard had a piece of bone removed from his right foot in order to promote recovery. The Bulls put a four- to six-month timeline on LaVine's recovery. He's now progressing towards on-court work at the three-month mark, which should allow LaVine to have a normal offseason training regiment.

Chris Finch To Have Patellar Tendon Surgery Wednesday

Apr 30, 2024 9:50 AM

Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch will have surgery for a ruptured right patellar tendon on Wednesday. Finch was injured near the end of the Timberwolves Game 4 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Minnesota guard Mike Conley collided with Finch on a play near the sideline.

Finch's status to be on the bench for Game 1 of the Wolves second round series against the Denver Nuggets is unknown. Finch may have to coach the game from the locker room, sending his plans to the assistants on the bench. Minnesota is expecting their coach to be able to travel to Denver for Game 1, barring any unexpected complications.

Finch led the Timberwolves to the second-most wins they've had in regular season franchise history. Minnesota's sweep of the Suns was only the second time in which the team has won a first round series.

Kristaps Porzingis Leaves Game 4 With Calf Tightness, Celtics Optimisic Achilles Wasn't Injured

Apr 29, 2024 9:34 PM

Kristaps Porzingis left Game 4 of the Boston Celtics' first round series against the Miami Heat with a non-contact injury.

The Celtics publicly announced Porzingis was doubtful to return with right calf tightness.

Sources tell ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that the early indications are Porzingis did not sustain an injury to his Achilles.

When a player tears his Achilles, it is typically a fairly obvious immediate diagnosis.
