Bradley Beal "remains conflicted" over his future with the Washington Wizards, multiple league sources tell The Athletic.

While Beal has a genuine interest in spending his entire career with the Wizards, he has concerns about whether they can surround him with difference-making talent.

Sources close to Beal he is not rejecting out of hand the notion of a trade elsewhere, even though his preference is to remain with the Wizards. Beal and his representatives have not asked for him to be traded by the deadline.

The Wizards have not changed their position of wanting to build around Beal. The Wizards believe Wes Unseld Jr. is an upgrade at head coach and they have multiple young players who have yet to reach their potential in Rui Hachimura and Deni Avdija.

The Wizards may not receive as competitive offer as they might like for Beal due to his pending free agency status. Washington is not likely to allow a potential trade partner communicate with Beal's camp to gauge his amenability to re-signing.

“No team’s going to give up the value that that guy would (command otherwise) if there’s not a deal in place,” another opposing team executive said. “You could get something for the guy, for sure. But I think a lot of places would be leery of giving up too much.”

Beal can sign a five-year, $241 million deal with the Wizards in the offseason, or a four-year, $180 million deal elsewhere.
