The Los Angeles Lakers' best offer to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis at the trade deadline was essentially Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, two first round picks plus the salary relief of taking Solomon Hill.

The Pelicans had the Lakers swap out Kuzma and cap relief in exchange for a third first round and unprotected swap rights on the Lakers' 2023 first rounder. They also had the good fortune of the Lakers missing the playoffs and moving up to No. 4 in the lottery.

At the deadline, the Lakers tried to use the possibility of the Boston Celtics not earnest being in trade talks due to the uncertainty of Kyrie Irving against them. That scenario came to pass but the Lakers still offered a better deal than they did in February.
