Rockets center Brad Miller revealed Saturday that he had microfracture knee surgery last month and will be out at least until January.

Speaking at a Sacramento Kings rally, Miller said that after struggling with the knee most of last season, he was advised to undergo a more extreme solution than he expected after the season. The area treated, however, was much smaller than with many microfracture surgeries with the procedure expected to help his performance, rather than force a long adjustment period.

“Getting it scoped last summer, just had issues with it again this year, so saw another doctor, and two doctors said it would be the best thing to do,” Miller said to reporters and Power Balance Pavilion. “It is what it is. I ain’t got much vertical to get back. It’s really not going to slow me down. They (said), ‘You’re the ideal candidate for this. A non-jumping, slow white guy. You shouldn’t really lose much.’ No explosiveness is going to be lost here.”
