Andray Blatche Seriously Considering Deal To Re-Sign In China

Feb 14, 2015 11:18 AM

Free agent forward Andray Blatche is seriously considering a lucrative contract to re-sign in the Chinese Basketball Association, multiple sources told RealGM.

Blatche has been pursued by several teams in China, and has had progressing discussions to sign a deal there instead of a potential NBA return, sources told RealGM.

After deciding not to commit to an NBA team last offseason, Blatche joined Xinjiang in China and had a dominant season, averaging 31.1 points, 14.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 56 percent shooting from the field. The 6-foot-11 forward has fielded NBA calls since his return from the Chinese season.

Blatche, 28, has played nine NBA seasons — seven with the Washington Wizards and two with the Brooklyn Nets. He scored 11.3 points per game for the Nets last season.

Janis Timma Pursues Major Euroleague Deal With Grizzlies Uninterested For 15-16

Feb 13, 2015 12:35 AM

Janis Timma -- the Memphis Grizzlies’ second round pick in the 2013 draft -- has begun to pursue a contract in the Euroleague with his NBA franchise uninterested in a deal for next season, sources told RealGM.

The Grizzlies have plans to fill their 2015-16 roster without Timma, leaving the 6-foot-7 Latvian forward focused on signing with a powerhouse team in Europe. Both sides recently discussed their future status.

Timma, 22, was the Grizzlies’ 60th overall draft pick and has remained on Memphis’ radar. He was named Young Player of the Month in January and has averaged 12.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists for BC VEF Riga in VTB league play.

Timma has played eight games for the Grizzlies’ summer league teams over the past two seasons.

Stanko Barac Pursuing NBA Deal

Feb 3, 2015 11:07 AM

Seven-foot-two center Stanko Barac, the 2007 draft acquisition of the Indiana Pacers, is pursuing an NBA deal, league sources told RealGM.

Barac, 28, was traded from the Miami Heat to the Pacers with the 39th overall draft pick in 2007. He recently signed with Cedevita in his native Croatia for the remainder of the season, but hopes to move into the NBA should the possibility come to fruition.

In his four games with Cedevita, Barac has averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 62.5 percent from the field.

The Pacers control Barac’s status in the NBA, and have monitored his play overseas with nothing imminent, sources said. They had tried to sign him to a multiyear, multimillion-dollar contract several years ago. At the time, Barac was under a lucrative deal with Efes of the Euroleague and elected not to leave.

In past seasons, several NBA teams have looked into Barac as an intriguing player with his size and skill. Barac suffered a herniated disc last season, but he’s since fully recovered and strengthened his body.

Barac has played professionally overseas with Baskonia, Valencia, Efes and now Cedevita.

France's Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot Plans Early Entry In NBA Draft

Feb 1, 2015 1:47 PM

French prospect Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot will place his name in the 2015 NBA Draft as an early entry player, sources told RealGM.

Luwawu is projected as an early second round pick in the 2016 NBA draft and has auto-eligibility in 2017, but the 19-year-old will gauge his stock for this June. At 6-foot-6, he has worked to polish his shooting range and improve his body and athleticism.

Luwawu has played in France throughout his basketball career. His agent, Herman Manakyan, also has two draft-eligible players in Mouhammadou Jaiteh (JSF Nanterre) and Yannis Morin (Cholet Basket).

Jaiteh — a French All-Star in his two seasons in the ProA league — has received a feedback range between picks No. 20 and No. 40. Despite being on the draft radar for years, Jaiteh remains only 20 years old.

Morin, a 6-foot-10 center, is auto-eligible and will be a candidate to be drafted late in the second round and stashed overseas. He participated in the adidas Eurocamp last June, when NBA personnel scouted talent featuring Dario Saric and Jusuf Nurkic.
