Joel Freeland is still eyeing a move to the NBA, but that time has not arrived.
"I just want to be here in Malaga," said Freeland, who averages 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds for Unicaja Malaga of the Spanish ACB.
"I don't want to make specific deadlines,” Freeland added. “When I'm ready, I'll take that step. But I have a lot to learn."
Portland still holds the rights to Freeland after selecting the 25-year-old big man with 30th pick of the 2006 NBA draft.
Besitkas has parted ways with Adam Morrison.
Morrison was signed to fill in for Besitkas guard Marcelus Kemp, who recently returned to the lineup.
"Adam wanted to leave club since he did not want to be sixth foreign player in the squad, so we terminated his contract” Besiktas coach Ergin Ataman said.
Morrison averaged 11.8 points in 8 games with Besitkas.
Puerto Rican team Capitanes de Arecibo has signed Ike Diogu for the for the FIBA-Americas League.
Diogu arrives from China, where he played for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
He spent six seasons in the NBA with the Warriors, Pacers, Blazers, Kings, and Clippers.
Zalgiris Kaunas is set to part ways with Sonny Weems.
Weems suffered a severe ankle sprain last week and opted to return to the U.S. for treatment.
He averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in the Euroleague after signing a one-year deal with Zalgiris last summer.
