Not sure how we missed Sabonis on that bargain contract.

To my eye, and I understand that opinion's differ, Ja's trade value is about ten slots too high here. Too much of his production is dependent upon on getting to the line, and when a good chunk of your points come from initiating contact with the defender, the officials can take that away, especially in the post season, just as quickly as they give it. I feel similarly about SGA who's assists numbers aren't where they should be in terms of elite PGs.
The big miss here though is Dame. He's not returning more than Ingram in a trade. I don't even think he's returning more than O.G. What the Blazers would want or ask for in terms of picks/prospect is not the relevant question.

Not many complaints about the top 25. The biggest issue about this list is that Bam is rated too high. Is he even the most valuable player on his own team? Despite of Butler age, he's can net a strong return and almost team would valuable him very highly due to him being a 2 way wing player. Bam sure doesn't hold more value than Damian Lillard, Paul George, Brandon Ingram Scottie Barnes, or Desmand Bane. I think Jarrett Allen and Sabonis should've been honorable mentions due to their team friendly contracts.

I thought the Top Ten were very solid, and perhaps that’s all you can hope for. I know when I was voting, it often felt like I was splitting hairs after the top ten. I was surprised to see Mobely and Halliburton as high as they were, but we all rate trade value differently.

Cant complain too much, but agree that its hard to think that Sabonis OG and Ingram dont have a place on this list

I have Haliburton as the best young PG in the NBA, the best PG in the East period, and second behind only Curry in terms of overall impact. He's probably the only player for whom I'd surrender Garland.

The issue with Sabonis and OG is that they're on relatively short deals and they can't sign an extension that is equal to their market value.

Contract control and age are a huge part of value. Maybe only behind talent. A player needs to have a lot going for him to make top 35 (counting HM). Sabonis and OG contract control really dings them.

I question teams going all in on Bam as well as a non offensive anchor but then again, the Gobert trade is a good reminder. He does have a longer deal than some of the other players available there, if guys like Siakam and Brown had a deal the length of Bams they'd have been like 10 spots higher.

Re: T&T board top 25 trade value - Final list
I like the mix of very young players under rookie contracts, young stars under rookie max contract and older players.
This board clearly values young players under control for a lot of years and it's something the GMs do as well...only very good young stud traded in the last years was Haliburton if I'm not mistaken.
I have the top 4 a tier above the rest (some might add Curry) and then it's very close between 5 and +/- 13.

I don’t have Lillard within 10-20spots of the 25th.

This is a pretty good list. I would argue that Shai, Mobley, LaMelo and Franz should be higher (lower number)
Paolo and JA should be ranked lower (higher number)

SGA is the best two way guard in the league at the moment. Third overall in scoring on very good efficiency. Number one guard in blocks, number 7 in the whole league in combined blocks and steals. There’s no guard doing it on both ends like that. Very very few holes in his game with lots of room to grow. And he’s 24 on a 5 year deal. If anything he should be a bit higher.
This is where I think folks are confusing best players and trade value. The back end of Lillards deal is really bad. I don’t have him as a contender for top 25 trade value.

I do. I think again its a different question what a player should in theory be worth versus what would happen if actually on the market.
And I think there are more than one team that would talk themselves into Dame as a final piece and give significant value for him even knowing the end of that contract might get ugly. People like hamburgers today they pay for next Tuesday. Especially when they might not be the ones having to pay for it next Tuesday unless it works. And if it works nobody will really care about paying for it then.

pretty good list. a few players are overrated though. Orlando doesn't have two top 25 trade assets. Lillard isn't a top 25 trade asset on that contract + age, but that's what happens when things start to get really subjective after about the top 20.

Re: T&T board top 25 trade value - Final list
I agree that this is a solid list. My major disagreement is probably Ja. He is a really good player, but I would probably have him at 11 and move everyone after him up a spot. I'm also not sure about Towns at 18, or about the tail end of the list, but if someone said "this is my top 25 players by trade value" I wouldn't think it was far off.

His upcoming FA is a nice under-rated storyline.

25yo all-star starter Lauri Markkenan who is locked into 2 more years at 18 mil couldn't even make the honorable mention list.
Tough crowd.
Tough crowd.
