Warriors Not Restricting Andrew Bogut, Treating Him '100 Percent Healthy'

Aug 29, 2013 3:44 PM

When the NBA season starts, the Golden State Warriors plan to treat Andrew Bogut as a fully healthy center who will not be restricted.

“I think the initial thought is he is healthy, and play him as much as you want,” general manager Bob Myers said. “If something obviously were to develop, something unforeseen, you have to react to it. At this point, you treat him like he is 100 percent healthy, that is what he is saying, that is what the medical staff is saying, so, you don’t treat him any other way.

"Maybe the question is, do you want to play him 35 minutes? But that is a question for any center. It is not due to anything with his injury. We’re approaching it like he is healthy.”

Bogut missed 104 games in the past two years and dealt with ankle issues last season.

Bogut had a significant impact in the Warriors' run to the Western Conference semifinals and is entering a contract season.

Granger's Return 'Really Exciting' For Vogel

Aug 27, 2013 3:52 PM

Frank Vogel was adamant about his excitement on the return of former All-Star Danny Granger to the Indiana Pacers' lineup.

“It’s really exciting," Vogel said on a radio show. "Danny is on schedule, looks really good, he’s making progress each week and we’re hoping that were going to be having a full-strength Danny Granger this year to add to this team that made a lot of noise last year.”

Granger missed most of last season with knee issues.

Granger is expected to bolster an already deep Pacers team.

Alex Len Expects To Ready For Training Camp After Undergoing Surgeries On Both Ankles

Aug 17, 2013 8:28 AM

Alex Len expects to be ready when the Phoenix Suns open training camp in late September.

Len had separate surgical procedures on both ankles following his final season at Maryland.

“I’ve got two more weeks of rehab and then I’ll be back about 85-90 percent,” Len said. “I’ll be back for training camp and be ready for the season.”

Len has spent most of this year with a protective boot on one foot or the other.

“I’m trying to just focus on the other things,” he said. “Just learn the game because there are a lot of things I have to learn, different rules and stuff like that. I don’t really think about it. The doctors tell me to just not worry about it. Everything’s great. I’m feeling right. I don’t feel any pain so there’s nothing to worry about.”

Dwyane Wade Will Use Camp To Get Ready For Season Opener

Aug 16, 2013 4:21 PM

Dwyane Wade admits he will not be ready for the Miami Heat's season opener when training camp starts, but his goal is to use camp to prepare himself for it.

"I won't be ready for opening night when training camp starts," Wade said. "But I'll be ready for opening night when opening night gets here."

Wade believed he did not need to have the blood-spinning procedure in Germany.

"Nah," Wade said. "I wasn't taking that flight. But you ask your doctors what they feel, and they didn't feel I needed to go there."

Dwyane Wade Receiving Positive Results From Shockwave Treatment

Aug 15, 2013 10:07 PM

Dwyane Wade underwent OssaTron shockwave treatment a month ago to deal with tendinitis and he says the results have been positive.

"I had to take a month off after I did my treatment and this weekend will be a month to the day," Wade said. "It's the kind of treatment for tendinitis, certain areas in your knee.

"Feeling a lot better. I'm not at 'great' yet. I'm feeling a lot, lot better. Right now I have to work on the strengthening part of it. So, I still have time before the season. By the time the season [starts], I think I'll be as good as I've been."

The Heat have had successful results with OssaTron treatments over the years, with Udonis Haslem benefiting from the procedure.

Brook Lopez Expects To Be Ready For Training Camp After Foot Surgery

Aug 14, 2013 11:00 AM

Brook Lopez needed surgery on his right foot this offseason for the third time in less than two years.

“I think I was more disappointed than anything,” Lopez said. “I wasn’t concerned. I was disappointed, but it was best to do it when we did it, in the week after the season, to give myself the most time to get back in shape and to get ready for the season.”

Lopez had the best season of his career in 12-13, averaging 19.4 points and making his first All-Star team.

Lopez said he’s on track to be ready by the time the Brooklyn Nets begin training camp in late September.

“I feel great,” Lopez said. “I have been getting in some weight lifting, getting shots up and everything is going well.

“I’m not fully working out. I’m not jumping or running or anything like that, but we have a good month-and-a-half just until training camp starts, so we’ll definitely be all right by then.”
