Kyrylo Fesenko has agreed to a one-year, $1.07 million deal with Golden State.
The Warriors signed veteran big man Kwame Brown to a one-year, $7 million deal recently but are clearly concerned about their frontcourt in the oversized Western Conference.
Fesenko -- a 7-foot, 280-pound center who spent his first four seasons in Utah -- was reportedly being pursued by Dallas, Miami and Toronto.
Samuel Dalmbert finally signed officially with the Rockest on Monday, just hours before their Opening Night debut.
Dalembert played 20 minutes, finishing the game with 10 points, five rebounds and three blocks.
“I didn’t expect to (play so early in the game), but one of those fouls they called on Jordan was a little suspect,” Dalembert said. “As they say, you have to be ready. The first couple minutes were a little weird. They kept the plays a little simple and I was able to grasp some of it and we were able to do some stuff and improvise when the plays broke down. After the first few minutes, it kind of catches your breath. But after a while I got a little comfortable.”
Mickael Pietrus, who negotiated a buyout with the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, cleared waivers Saturday night and as expected, signed on with the Boston Celtics.
"His skills as a perimeter defender and an outside shooter provide great versatility to the roster," Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge said in a statement released by the Celtics.
The Celtics only have the veteran's minimum available.
That means the eight-year veteran would receive a pro-rated salary of about $1.2 million.
The New Orleans Hornets announced that they have signed forward/center Gustavo Ayón. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.
“We are extremely excited about this signing,” said Hornets GM Dell Demps. “Gustavo is someone who we have had on our radar for a while and we believe he is going to be a great addition to our roster. He is a highly coveted international player and we look forward to working with him as he transitions into being an NBA player."
Ayón (6-10, 250), averaged 15.9 points on 66 percent shooting while grabbing 8.2 rebounds per game this season over 10 games for Fuenlabrada of Spain.
Free agent big man Chuck Hayes has agreed to sign a four-year, $22.3 million to return to Sacramento.
Hayes had his four-year, $21 million deal voided by the Kings on Monday when tests revealed an abnormality in his heart, yet he was cleared to play on Thursday morning after seeking a second opinion.
According to a source close to the situation, teams can only void contracts based on a failed physical for six days after it is signed.
The Atlanta Hawks today signed free agent guard Willie Green, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund.
Green played in 77 games last season with the New Orleans Hornets, starting 13, and averaging 8.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg and 1.0 apg (.443 FG%, .348 3FG%, .780 FT%). He has played in 499 career regular season games, including 422 with Philadelphia, where he spent his first seven seasons before his one year with the Hornets. Green has averaged 9.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg and 1.6 apg (.425 FG%, .322 3FG%, .756 FT%) over his career, also seeing action in 23 postseason games.
Derrick Rose signed a $94.8 million contract extension on Wednesday.
"He embodies all the characteristics that you look for," coach Tom Thibodeau said. "It's a lot more than the talent. The talent is the obvious part. Then, when you look at his will to win, basketball IQ, unselfishness, his humility -- I think those are the things that you can build a championship-caliber team around."
"I don't think you can put a ceiling on what Derrick can become," general manager Gar Forman said. "It's scary to think that I think he'll continue to get better and better throughout his career."
Rose didn't seek a player option in his contract, something that was sought by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh when they signed their first new contracts in 2006,
"Derrick absolutely didn't want that," he said. "He wanted a full commitment to the Chicago Bulls and to stay in Chicago. To us, that's really special. He stepped up. The maximum length he could sign is what he wanted to sign."
The Atlanta Hawks today signed guard Jannero Pargo, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Rick Sund.
Pargo signed with the Bulls on March 20, 2011, but didn’t appear in a contest last season. In 2009-10 with Chicago, the seven-year veteran played in 63 games (starting five), averaging 5.5 ppg, 1.4 apg and 1.2 rpg in 13.2 mpg. He’s also spent time with the Lakers, Raptors and Hornets. In 379 career contests, he’s put in 6.6 ppg, 2.0 apg and 1.5 rpg in 15.7 mpg.
Glen Grunwald announced today that the Knicks have signed Baron Davis.
Davis was waived by the Cavaliers last week under the league's amnesty provision.
Howard Beck of the New York Times reports that Davis signed for the veteran's minimum which means the Knicks still have their 'room exception' of $2.5 million to spend. The team is looking to bolster its frontcourt depth.
