Ben Gordon has decided to focus on his rehabilitation from offseason surgery rather than play for Great Britain at this summer's World Championships.

He had surgery in late April to remove bone spurs from his left ankle. Gordon wore a cast for three weeks and thought he'd be ready to play at the World Championships in preparation for Detroit's training camp.

However, his ankle hasn't healed as quickly as he would have liked.

"The rehab is going well," Gordon said. "I've been working with Arnie Kander, one of the best trainers in pro sports.

"I had fully planned on participating in the games, but once I talked to my doctors and Arnie and they explained it was best to rest and recover, that changed my whole thinking.

"Right now, I'm still doing rehab. I'm not at full speed or game speed yet. I do know I'm improving every week. I'll be ready in time for training camp if I continue to improve the way I have."
