Dwight Howard prematurely Tweeted his return to the Los Angeles Lakers and later deleted it after he was under the assumption he had a one-year, $3 million offer on the table, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

Sources within the Lakers are adamant that a formal offer was never made and that it was a "deal concept" as part of their dialogue. Howard thought if he agreed to the "deal concept" that it would be a done deal.

The front office said they had to consult with ownership and seek approval before making an official offer.

Howard waited for nearly an hour without hearing back.

The Philadelphia 76ers were aggressive in pursuing Howard and he decided to sign a one-year, $2.6 million deal.

The Lakers pivoted to signing Montrezl Harrell to a two-year, $19 million deal.
