Tim Duncan has formally announced his retirement from the NBA after 19 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs.

Duncan helped lead the Spurs to five NBA championships with a .710 winning percentage in the regular season.

Duncan was the first overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft after a four-year career at Wake Forest.

Duncan led the NBA in Defensive RPM in his final season at the age of 40. Duncan joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players to retire with at least 26,000 points, 15,000 rebounds and 3,000 blocks.
