The Kings need to spend about $17 million in salary this season to reach the minimum salary floor, and are approximately $25 million under the $58 million salary cap.

They have made overtures to re-sign Samuel Dalembert, who was their starting center when they played some of their best basketball at the end of last season.

The team has also shown interest in free-agent center Chuck Hayes, who has spent six seasons with Houston.

In addition to trying to re-sign restricted free-agent guard Marcus Thornton, the Kings have been linked to Dallas center Tyson Chandler, Washington swingman Nick Young and Dallas guard J.J. Barea.
