The Hornets have beaten the Suns in the race to hire San Antonio's Dell Demps as their new general manager.

New Orleans reached an agreement in principle with Demps on Tuesday night, according to sources close to the situation.

Demps played with Hornets rookie coach Monty Williams with the Spurs in the mid-1990s.
