The Hornets have asked the Mavericks for permission to interview assistant Dwane Casey for their coaching vacancy, according to sources.

New Orleans has already scheduled an interview with former Dallas coach Avery Johnson on Tuesday in Houston.

Now that Dallas has been eliminated from the playoffs, the Clippers and 76ers are expected to ask to interview Casey as well.

Casey, who coached the Timberwolves for a season and a half before he was fired in 2007, was a finalist for Philadelphia's head coaching job last offseason.
