As the start of construction in Brooklyn gets closer, the Nets' target date for playing the first game at their new home arena is not yet clear.  The team holds out hope of that happening before the 2011-2012 season comes to a close.

The project developer estimates it will take 28 months to build the complex, which means the earliest construction could be completed is April of 2012.  The NBA regular season schedule wraps up in mid-April.

On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that the Nets hope to open the Barclays Center by June of 2012.  This past season, the NBA Finals were the only games played in June.
