Raptors coach Jay Triano is thinking of "tweaking" some of the team's basic defensive principles.

The team has struggled to implement the defensive system they've been working on since training camp.

Triano didn't elaborate on what he might change, but admitted that some new looks might be necessary.

"Do we think about tweaking things a little bit? Yes," Triano said Monday. "But at the same time, we were committed to this from training camp and we want to give it a chance. If we need to tweak it at some point, that's what we'll do.

"We've got guys that are maybe not good individual defenders or (who) struggle guarding certain things and we have to provide help and assistance for them and I think that's up to me to find out how to best utilize these guys at both ends of the floor."

The Raptors have been very inconsistent on defense this season.

"Whether we go traditional with some of the stuff we've been doing most of the time or switch different possessions, throw some zone in to keep teams off balance, those are all things we've been looking at it," the coach added.
