Magic coach Stan Van Gundy is unhappy with how center Dwight Howard has been treated this postseason.

Howard recorded 20 double-doubles during this year's playoffs, an achievement that only Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Duncan, Charles Barkley and Karl Malone have reached.

"For whatever reason he hasn't been treated fairly," Van Gundy said of Howard. "I ran into a commentator (on Saturday) and he started jumping on Dwight's offensive game and it just (ticked) me off. I said (Howard) just went out and had 21 rebounds and nine blocked shots, but does he have things he still needs to work on? Of course he does, but can we ever talk about his positives? People don't go out and get nine blocks and 21 rebounds in NBA Finals games. Can we give the guy the respect that he deserves for coming through in big games instead of nitpicking everything that he can't do."

Van Gundy says that excuses are made for other players, but never Howard.

"For some reason there are certain guys on certain teams who are on this list when things go wrong for them there are a list of excuses. For other guys, if they make one little mistake, they're not on that list," Van Gundy said. "LeBron James loses against us and didn't play a good Game 6 -- and he's a great, great player -- but no one would even write that he didn't play a good Game 6; the only story afterwards was that he needs more help. Dwight misses two free throws and his offense isn't good enough. I don't understand why some people are on one list and some people are on the other list."
