Bulls point guard Derrick Rose was content with his rookie season, and has looked to LeBron James for inspiration.

"I had a good year," said Rose, who won the NBA's Rookie of the Year award. "I wasn't scared or anything. I just had to get used to it, making mistakes and learning from the mistakes.

"I watched LeBron [James] early in his career, and his biggest thing was he got used to making mistakes so he could move on and not think about it too much. I'm just trying to follow him right now."

James averaged 20.9 points on 41.7 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 39.5 minutes during his first season.

Rose averaged 16.8 points on 47.5 percent shooting, 6.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 37 minutes this year.

Chicago's star plans to go to Los Angeles this summer to work on his game.

"Just everything, but I have to be more consistent with my jump shot," Rose said. "Just stay consistent with my stroke and get my confidence up in my jump shot. You have to take them and know they're gonna fall. I'm good enough to where if I take enough jump shots, I'm not gonna miss them; I'm gonna make at least half of them. I just have to learn that and keep shooting.

"I also want to learn the pick-and-roll a little bit better and work on my defense."
