The Clippers are leaning towards buying out the contract of point guard Sam Cassell, according to the Daily News in Los Angeles.

The organization realizes that Cassell's heart is no longer in L.A., and there seems to be no reason to keep him around with the Clippers nearly eliminated from the playoff hunt.

Clippers' Coach Mike Dunleavy told the News, "You have between now and March 1 where you're going to see guys who could potentially get bought out of deals. Certain things can happen. We're looking at all of those potential situations and looking for opportunities that could help us."
