Wolves' forward Mark Madsen, the team representative to the NBA players union, said he doesn't feel the need to arm himself with a gun, but that might change if he gets married and has children.

The NBA prohibits firearms from league business, such as games and team flights. But players have the right to bear arms in their personal lives, if they do so lawfully.

Madsen said he feels safest with more conventional means of security. His home is wired with an elaborate security system.

"I think the overarching concern is that some of these acts seem random," Madsen said. "That, in itself, is the biggest concern, whether it's an NBA player, whether it's someone else, it just seems like there's no rhyme or reason. That's definitely the scary thing."
