Washington Wizards' Coach Eddie Jordan named Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison the team's captains prior to Wednesday night's regular season opener at Indiana.

Jordan said he discussed the matter with Butler and Jamison as well as Gilbert Arenas and Antonio Daniels before making the final decision. It will be Butler's first season as an NBA captain. Jamison filled the role last season along with center Etan Thomas, who is out indefinitely after undergoing heart surgery.

"Gil's a leader in his own way and Antonio is a leader in his own way, but I just wanted to name two captains," Jordan said. "I made the decision because Antawn is a professional and Caron is a professional, and he's shown that he's taken steps forward as far as being a leader."
