Juan Carlos Navarro, a Spanish guard whose rights belong to the Washington Wizards, negotiated an unexpected buyout with his European team, FC Barcelona, on Tuesday.

Faced with salary-cap issues that might make signing him a challenge, the Wizards are believed to be listening to offers.

Navarro's agent, Alex Saratsis, said the Cavs were one of the eight teams who have called to express interest, the Akron Beacon-Journal is reporting.

The Cavs are believed to like Navarro's shooting ability, especially from mid-range. There are some questions about his defensive skills.

``Juan Carlos is looking for a team that he can help get to the next level,'' Saratsis said. ``He is a seasoned player and an intelligent player and he could help a lot of teams.''

It is believed Navarro is looking for a three-year deal worth $12 million.
