Shaquille O'Neal tore cartilage in his left knee Sunday when he collided with Houston's Chuck Hayes and it was announced on Friday that he will undergo surgery on that knee. The injury was originally diagnosed as a hyperextended knee.

He is expected to miss four to six weeks of play.

Dr. Harlan Selesnick will perform surgery on the center at a date to be determined. After surgery, O?Neal can begin rehabilitation immediately.
