While Orlando wants to retain free agent Deshawn Stevenson, GM Otis Smith said the team was no closer to coming to an agreement on a new contract.

"We're in the same place we were when I got here," Smith said from Los Angeles, where he met with Stevenson's agent. "For it to work for us, it has to be something reasonable. The ball is in his court."

Stevenson is hoping for a multi year deal starting at $5 million.

"I can't get into details," Smith said. "I can't say we will or won't talk again soon. He's an unrestricted free agent. The conversations will end if he decides he has a better deal somewhere else. But we want him back."
