Former pro basketball star Isaiah "J.R." Rider pleaded not guilty Friday to felony charges of kidnap and false imprisonment after he allegedly forced a woman into his car last month in Marin City.

Rider, of Alameda, is free on $2 million bail.

The 34-year-old former NBA slam dunk champion is accused of forcing a former girlfriend into his Mercedes-Benz on Jan. 25 and driving off as the woman screamed for help. The woman, whose name is not being released because she is allegedly a victim of domestic violence, was found safe a half-mile away, investigators said.

Outside court Friday, Rider said both he and his ex-girlfriend disagree with the prosecution's version of the dispute, but he did not offer details.
