Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that forward Antawn Jamison underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue in his right knee. The procedure was conducted by Dr. Stephen Lombardo of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Jamison, who earned his first All-Star selection in 2004-05, averaged 19.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in 68 starts this season. In his first season with the Wizards, Jamison helped lead the Wizards to their best record (45-37) in 26 seasons. He also led the Wizards to their first postseason appearance since the 1996-97 season and their first postseason series win in 23 seasons with a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 2004-05 NBA Playoffs.

Jamison, who completed his seventh NBA season, has career averages of 19.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
