Jalen Rose, no stranger to a big trade, is expecting Toronto to make a trade in the coming weeks.

"Do I feel like there's probably going to be a trade? Yes, I do," Rose said here yesterday morning before the Raptors lost to the New Jersey Nets, their 12th defeat in 15 games. "There's probably going to be a trade and I feel like there's going to be a trade soon."

According to the Toronto Star, Portland and New York are likely destinations for Rose and Vince Carter.  The New York package is said to include Allan Houston, who is ready to play after knee surgery but wasn't activated by the Knicks last night as expected. Tim Thomas and or Penny Hardaway might be involved as well.

"Every time I've been a part of it has been when the regime changed," said Rose, who was a favourite of Larry Bird but not of Isiah Thomas in Indiana and in whom Chicago general manager John Paxson had diminishing interest.

"It's the same thing here in Toronto," Rose said. "(Former GM) Glen Grunwald brought me in, he's not here any more so...I'm pretty sure they want their own people."
