With a fifth of the NBA season past, the Seattle Supersonics have surged to a surprising 14-3 record after a Dec 1 overtime victory over a very tough Utah squad.  Their record is even more amazing considering they are in the toughest division in the NBA.

?I would have guessed the Southwest Division with San Antonio and Dallas would have been the toughest,? Seattle forward Danny Fortson said Thursday at the team?s training facility. ?But as you see now, our division is really, really tough. Denver is no slouch, Portland is no slouch and neither is Utah.

The Sonics are 3-1 versus teams in their division with wins over Denver, Minnesota and the latest over Utah.

With the initial momentum waning the Sonics are still continue to prove that they can win against the tough teams.  Now that they have cemented themselves as one of the top teams in the West they must make the transition from underdog to contender.
