The Minnesota Timberwolves tied up their best-of-seven Western Conference Finals series with the Los Angeles Lakers with an 89-71 Game 2 victory at the Target Center.

Kevin Garnett led the Wolves with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Latrell Sprewell and Wally Szczerbiak both scored 17 and 16 points.

Shaquille O?Neal was held to just 14 points and Wolves? little-used point guard Darrick Martin came up big for the Wolves off the bench with 15.  Martin was playing in relief of an injured Sam Cassell.

The victory gave the Wolves back some momentum and allowed them to make a statement that they are not going to be an easy out in this series.  But the home-court advantage and the likes of Shaquille O?Neal, Kobe Bryant, Gary Payton and Karl Malone playing on their home floor, represent a daunting challenge for the Wolves.

Game 3 is Tuesday night at Staples Center.
