An attorney for soon-to-be-former Warriors point guard Gilbert Arenas appeared in San Mateo County Superior Court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor weapons and vehicle charges on the player's behalf.

Arenas, 21, faces charges of possessing a concealed weapon and driving without a license, stemming from a June 4 traffic stop in South San Francisco, according to county prosecutors.

Prosecutors say that when police pulled Arenas over at El Camino Real and Westborough Boulevard, they discovered he had no license and had a .40-caliber handgun in a bag behind his passenger seat, with an ammunition clip in the glove compartment.

Arenas' attorney, Cristina Arguedas, also requested a pretrial hearing on Sept. 9, with a possible trial date of Oct. 14.
