The Orlando Magic are poised to replace veteran point guard and fan favorite Darrell Armstrong with either Tyronn Lue or Antonio Daniels and are close to a deal with center Andrew DeClercq.

Armstrong, who has spent his entire nine-year career in the NBA with the Magic, might be on his way out after the Magic stepped up negotiations with Lue and Daniels. Both players have visited Orlando during the free-agent process and Lue's agent, Andy Miller, said earlier this week that his client was close to an agreement with the Magic.

Magic head coach Doc Rivers said Wednesday -- the first day that free agents were officially allowed to sign with teams -- that they would could sign either Lue or Armstrong, but likely not both of them. Both are just 6-feet tall and the Magic want to add size and athleticism at the point. Daniels, a longtime favorite of Rivers, is a muscular 6-foot-4 and the most athletic of the three.

"I just don't know if that's something we would do," Rivers said when asked if the Magic would re-sign Armstrong and another point guard. "We're still looking into that. Darrell's agent is still negotiating with (Magic general manager John Gabriel). But our first option now is to come out of the free-agency period with a starting point guard. We have to do that before we do anything."

DeClercq, who has spent the past three seasons with the Magic, is close to signing a two-year deal worth $5 million. Orlando declined to pick up his $3.625 million option on June 30, making him a restricted free agent. The 6-foot-10, 255-pound center had his finest season with the Magic last year and would likely start along the front line next year with newly signed small forward Juwan Howard and power forward Drew Gooden.

"He'll be back. I believe that," Rivers said. "We haven't agreed on anything yet, but when Drew had his exit interview after the season he said that he was going to make sure he was back here. When that happens, usually something gets done pretty quickly."
