Heading into tonight's NBA draft, all the Monday morning general managers -- you know, the fans who have the local sports-talk shows on speed dial -- insist that the Orlando Magic must grab a point guard. Or else.

Sure, there's currently no suitable starter at the spot, and Darrell Armstrong now needs more ice than Ted Williams to get through a season.

But hold on, Louie from Longwood, holding on line 2: The pressure on the Magic is to come away with a player -- regardless of position -- who can help Tracy McGrady today, not tomorrow.

It doesn't matter if he plays point guard, shooting guard, power forward, center or the Stradivarius. Just as long as he can play the NBA way.

Such pressure usually doesn't accompany a team picking at No. 15, considering the best find at that spot in the past 20 years was Steve Nash (No. 15 by Phoenix in 1996.)

But the Magic's past two drafts, which were dismal, and season-ending surgery for Grant Hill practically demand that the club hit the bull's-eye this time.
